About Horseshoe Bay Lodge

Boasting some of the best sand beaches of any resort on Leech Lake, Horseshoe Bay Lodge offers guests a full-service restaurant and lounge, a convention center, hotel, cabins, deep harbor, and luxurious suites. The Resort also offers some of the oldest history uncovered in the Leech Lake area.

In 1989, crews from the Leech Lake Reservation Heritage Sites Program along with archaeologists from the University of Iowa excavated artifacts dating back 8,000 years on the resorts property. At the time, former owners had purchased a swath of 16 acres adjacent to the resort - for the purpose of building the convention center and expanding lodging. During the survey, the researchers discovered a broad range of artifacts that revealed the site had been occupied by human beings for thousands of years. Some of the later indications revealed that the site was home to one of the American Fur Company's trading post back in the 1800's. Arrowheads, hand-forged iron tools, flint lock plates and gun cocks from the muskets, jewelry,  as well as pottery made in Paris were uncovered. Today, the courtyard Reunion Center is located on the historic property. Guests meander on the level park-like grounds, relax with a good summer read under one of the ancient Oaks and enjoy family picnics next to the lake.

Horseshoe Bay Lodge can attract the guests that other resorts can't accommodate, with a full restaurant and bar, heated indoor pool and hot tub, 40 acres of nature, 2,600' of sand beaches, plus luxurious accommodations for more than 300 guests set it apart  from anyplace in Minnesota.

The resort is designed to offer every convenience all within a close proximity to Walker and only three hours from the Twin Cities. Its level grounds and spacious park-like layout ensure ease of mobility, privacy and ample room for large groups to enjoy fun times together.

Weddings, anniversaries, corporate meetings - all can be accommodated at this beautiful resort. It's not just another hotel like in Minneapolis. We are located at some of the best fishing sites on Leech Lake and can provide the angler and families everything the discerning vacationer can want.

The Courtyard Reunion Center has 19 suites that sleep up to 72 guests. The suites can be rented individually, in groups or in its entirety. There is a meeting space, a banquet hall with dance floors for up to 125 guests, and two fully-equipped kitchens. The Inn offers hotel-style rooms with kitchenettes that include mini-refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers. Guests can also enjoy a large cedar lined pool facility with hot tub, steam room, and sauna. The Lakeside Chateaus and Villas feature expansive lake views, and the private lake cottages offer privacy with the option to rent adjacent units for more room.

The Iron Fire Bar and Grill is open to the public and is a great place to boat-in for a relaxing lakeside meal. Outdoor seating is available during the summer. The restaurant also caters to the Courtyard Center and for events.
